Short bio
With a diverse background, Taryn has contributed to various research fields such as animal behaviour, ecology, and fisheries. Taryn’s academic achievements include completing an honours research project that used a multimethod approach to identify spatio-temporal variations in elephant fish feeding ecology. This project showcased her proficiency in diverse research methodologies, including stomach content analysis, fatty acid analysis, stable isotope analysis and eDNA. Taryn has held a position at the Australian Rivers Institute of Toxicology since September 2023, assisting in environmental monitoring and wildlife toxicology investigations. Her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge is evident through her recent appointment as a PhD candidate at Griffith University, supported by an Australian government scholarship. Her doctoral research will explore the immunotoxic effects of immunomodulating contaminants on bull sharks, highlighting her dedication to understanding and mitigating anthropogenic impacts on marine life.
